《海绵宝宝 SpongeBob》原名为《穿方形裤子的海绵鲍勃》(SpongeBob SquarePants)是美国尼克卡通制片公司在1999年制作并首次播出，至今依然在尼克国际儿童频道连载，已经连载18年了。之所连载这么久自然与动画片本身幽默而充满想象力，老少皆宜的剧情有关；并多次被评为美国电视节目历史上最受孩子们喜爱的动画系列片之一；也多次曾获得全美儿童电视动画片收视冠军，每个月都有将近6000万观众收看，除了儿童观众以外，还有一半观众都是成年人。曾连续于2002年～2004年获得艾美奖最佳儿童节目奖，并于2004年获得美国电视评论家奖最佳儿童节目奖，在美国可谓是家喻户晓。《纽约时报》编辑梅尔曼对它的评价：“这是电视上所曾出现的最有魅力的卡通，它有着干净单纯的快乐，集合了成人的幽默和儿童的纯真。”

《海绵宝宝 SpongeBob SquarePants》 简介
海绵宝宝系列的故事场景设定在太平洋中一座称为比基尼（Bikini Bottom）的海底城市，但内容基本上与海洋知识无关。主角是一块居住在这座城市穿方形裤子的黄色海绵鲍勃，也就是海绵宝宝。他是一个天真乐观，充满善意，幼稚可爱，似乎从来没有什么烦恼，每天乐呵呵的；但是尽管他出于好意，仍免不了陷入麻烦之中，不过他总能摆脱困境，然后又制造新的麻烦。他总有一些异想天开的想法，甚至夸大到完全不合乎科学与常识！除了固定描绘的卡通场景与人物之外，也会穿插一些真实的物件或人物。
每一集的故事主要围绕着主角海绵宝宝和他的好朋友派大星、邻居章鱼哥、上司蟹老板等人展开，他的宠物是一只会“猫~猫~”叫的海蜗牛小蜗，海绵宝宝喜欢捕捉水母，职业是蟹堡王（The Krusty Krab）里的头号厨师。他和他的小宠物一只叫小蜗牛的蜗牛一起住在一颗菠萝里.海绵宝宝总是不费吹灰这力就能遇上各种各样的麻烦。他如果没有和坏脾气的邻居章鱼哥较上劲，那就一定正和他的亲密战友一单纯又可爱的海星派大星，或是和他那追求刺激爱冲浪的松鼠伙伴珊迪，陷入千奇百怪的事件中……
